Whang Cheolmean is a graduate of the German Film & Television Academy of Berlin (DFFB). His thesis film, Fuck Hamlet (1997), was invited to both the Berlin International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. After returning to Korea, he produced the documentaries Battle of Okcheon (2001) and King and His Sculptor (2002).
