Nguyễn Ngọc Tư (born 15th August 1976 in Cà Mau) is a Vietnamese writer and poet. One of the most influential figures in 21st century Vietnamese literature, she is best known for a series of controversial short stories featuring extreme poverty, abusive relationships, violence and alienation, as well as a terse, emotionally resonant writing style and the heavy use of Southern Vietnamese-Mekong Delta regional dialect. She has received various accolades, including the Southeast Asian Writers Award in 2008, Vietnam Writers' Association Award for her most famous work "Cánh đồng bất tận" (The Endless Field) in 2006, and LiBeraturpreis in 2018; the writer was also voted as one of the top 10 notable rising figures of the youth in 2002 by the public.
