Mmakgosi Anita Tau is an award-winning writer-director from Botswana based in Syracuse, New York. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Syracuse University and works in both fiction film and documentary. Tau has made films in Botswana, Ethiopia, the United States, and Zambia. She is a Headlands Center for the Arts Artist in Residence 2023 and a recipient of The 2021 Donald and Genie Rice Residency Award for film- Yaddo, USA. Tau is a recipient of the Bryan Buckley Award and two Creative Opportunity Grants for her short films.
