While attending college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, he broke colts for world-renowned cutting horse trainer Larry Reeder. After graduating in 1991, he continued his rodeo career, as well as starting a business which is still in operation today. For many years he worked in the music industry as a bus driver.
