Mariana Alvénez is a spanish filmmaker born in Valle de Santa Ana (Extremadura). Although she studied for some time in Jerez de los Caballeros, she first moved to Badajoz to study art. She won her first award when she was 18 at the Youth International Film Festival placed in Plasencia after being encouraged by Isabel, her teacher, to submit her work to the festival. After finishing her baccalaureate and, sadly, spending two years pursuing a degree she decided to leave behind, she moved to Seville and started to study Audiovisual Communication. By now, she has been part of the crew on two shortfilms ("Cuando hablábamos con los muertos" and "El telón") and she has directed and written the upcoming shortfilm "Indoloro", in which Alfonso Gautier also participated, sharing the same roles.
