While in college, he started his acting life after completing the 16th generation of Haiyuza Training School. Since 1977, he has consistently played the role of Kosuke Kindaichi , the main character in the "Seiji Yokomizo Series /Detective Kosuke Kindaichi Series"; for 25 years from 1982 to 2007, he played the role of Sakon Taro, the main character of the "Mixed bathing open- air bath serial murder " series in "Saturday Wide Theater", and became a hit again. The eldest son is Kenji Furuya , the vocalist of Dragon Ash . His father Furuya appeared in TVCF for Dragon Ash's album " Viva La Revolution " ( 1999 ), and father and son co-starred in the movie "Letters" ( 2003 ), which Furuya starred in and produced.
