Hans Buyse graduated with honours as a "Master in Film" from the KASK film academy in Ghent in 1996. In 1998, he co-founded the company iSPY with three filmmaker friends and a musician, mainly producing music videos and commercials. In 2006, he established the production company Poetry in Motion with which they won several advertising awards at Cannes. With the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic he decided to downsize the production company and focus on his old dream of making his fiction projects.
