He believes acting is an outlet for people to go outside their own boundaries and should be about taking risks to get over fears. Garrett also does stand up comedy from time to time. He does not see stand up as a career choice but instead as a good time to make his friends and strangers laugh. He says he originally got into acting to do comedy saying Jim Carrey and Chris Farley were huge inspirations to him.
