Basir Ahmed is a Pakistani writer-director and musician based in Karachi. A 2021 Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture graduate, he comes from a filmmaking lineage spanning 4 generations. His thesis film Baba Jee premiered at the International South Asian Film Festival Canada (Canadian Screen Award-qualifying) and won 6 awards, including Best Director at 2 festivals, before being acquired by IndieFlix. His archive film Manly Men was exhibited at the Lahore Biennale Foundation’s Virtual Museum under the British Council’s PK/UK New Perspectives program. A Qalambaaz Screenwriting Fellow (2023), his debut feature Kurrachee was a ScreenCraft Virtual Pitch semifinalist.
