Ayaz Guluzada (born 12 March 2004, Baku) is an Azerbaijani indie filmmaker. He graduated with a degree in Marketing from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Film and Television Management at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. Ayaz developed a deep interest in cinema from a young age, but he made the decision to pursue filmmaking seriously in 2023 after watching Once Upon a Time in Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan — a turning point that inspired him to express his own voice through film. His early works — Pawn (2023), Maladaptive (2023), Dan (2024), and Anti-Theatre (2024) — were created as experimental tests to gain experience in directing, editing, and visual storytelling with limited resources. These no-budget shorts helped him shape his style and creative instincts. His latest film, Ya Səbir (2025), marks his first serious and professionally crafted short film. Entirely written, directed, and edited by Ayaz, it reflects a more mature artistic vision and is considered his official debut in short filmmaking. Ayaz’s influences include Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Lars von Trier, Gaspar Noé, and David Lynch.
Ayaz Guluzada has appeared in several movies across different genres. Their filmography reflects a wide range of performances and memorable roles.
